Lead-in to the speedfreaks, out on the ice
This is a listing of every "entry" in a given game conversation as scraped from the game files. Entries often contain written dialogue, as well as conditional logic governing their appearance to the player. They also link to other entries, sometimes automatically and sometimes through player action. This page is best used to search for a specific word or phrase, as following the links in this format can be difficult. For an experience that better accommodates the branching structure of these conversations, see the corresponding interactive page.

| Acele | A shaggy-looking girl in her late teens or early twenties kneels on the ice with an electronic contraption in her hand. Hearing you approach, she looks up. |
| You | "Dear child, it's freezing. Where's your hat?" |
| You | "So, you wanna *party*?" | Variable["ice.acele_greet_electro"] |
| You | "I have some questions for you." |
| Acele | "Huh?" She looks up at you, distracted. |
| You | "I said, you should have a hat on." |
| Empathy | It's cold out here, but she's not wearing a hat! She must be freezing. |
| Acele | "So should you." |
| You | "Come to think of it -- I *should*. Where would I get one around here?" | CheckEquippedGroup("hat") == false |
| You | "I should -- and I do." (Point at your hat.) | CheckEquippedGroup("hat") |
| Acele | "I don't know, some kind of a... store?" She pauses to think. "Maybe a general store... Look man, fuck the hat." |
| You | "Is that kind of language really necessary?" |
| You | "*I* don't have to do anything, I'm a police officer. *You*, however, have to do what I say." |
| Acele | "Real cool..." She looks down at the device, mumbling under her breath. |
| Perception (Hearing) | "Way to abuse that power, man..." she says, thinking you can't hear her. |
| Composure | She bats away your questions like flies. She's not intimidated by mere police officers. |
| Acele | "Oh, I didn't notice that." |
| Acele | "I'm sorry I said 'fuck the hat.' I was concentrating on something else..." |
| You | "It's nice. You should wear one, too, if you plan on staying outside in this weather." |
| You | "Now that that's all cleared up, I have some questions for you." |
| You | "I'm done here." [Leave.] |
| You | "And the law says you have to wear a hat in this weather." |
| You | "So keep that in mind while I ask some questions." |
| Acele | "Tsk..." She lets a quiet *tsk* roll off her tongue. "What kind of law says that?" |
| You | "The Hat Law." |
| You | "That's it, I'm going. Wear a hat or catch a cold, I don't care." [Leave.] |
| You | "What are we even talking about?" |
| You | "The Law of Seasons. You'll get sick if you don't." |
| Acele | "Man, I have no clue, either." |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "This is not a good questioning technique." |
| Acele | "Yeah, well..." She tries to think of something to say, but can't. "Look man, fuck the hat." |

| Acele | "What?" She looks up at you, confused. |
| You | (Say it again louder, she might not have heard you over the wind.) "DO YOU WANT TO PARTY?!" |
| You | "Nothing. I have some questions for you." |
| You | "I said, 'You should have a hat on.'" |
| Acele | "Yeah, I heard you, but what do you *mean* by 'party'?" |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "Yes, what *do* you mean?" The lieutenant sounds serious. |
| You | "I mean: we get drinks, come back here, sit on the frozen sea ice and drink until we start talking about fucked-up emotional stuff. The *worst*." |
| You | "I mean: we buy drinks, and, right there in the liquor store, we get those bad boys in us, and then *you* tell *me* what you mean when *you* say *party*!" | Variable["auto.visited_gates"] == true |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "Thing is, I haven't said *party*..." |
| You | "You will once you get those bad boys in you." |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "... and neither have you. Had you let me in on the script of this play before you performed it, I could have gone along. As it stands, the entire line of questioning has been compromised." |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "We have nothing left to do but hope this *was* a play on your part -- and to move on. Now." He turns to the young woman. "We have some questions for you." |
| You | (Whisper.) "Kim, stop it, you're spoiling everything!" |
| You | "Um, yeah, and I would like to ask some questions now. So, questions." |
| You | "I mean: we get drinks -- and we also get drugs." | SubstanceUsedOnce("speed") or SubstanceUsedOnce("pyrholidon") |
| Acele | "You know, that sounds kinda nice..." |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "No, it doesn't." |
| Acele | "Oh, of course." She doesn't sound surprised. |
| Authority | Odd. Something about the way she says it makes you think she's not bothered by any of the cop-show questioning. |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "You." The lieutenant turns to you. "If you were intending to use an unorthodox questioning technique for this branch of the investigation -- which, by the way, is tangential at best -- you should have let me in on it." |
| You | "We have some questions for you." |
| You | "Uh... we'll be back later." [Leave.] |

| Acele | "So you talked to my associates, right? Are you gonna help us? With the church, I mean." |
| Acele | "So, like..." The girl on the ice looks up at you. "Seriously, what's eating you, man?" |
| Empathy | There is a hint of pity in her eyes. |
| You | "I think it's the plight of the working class." |
| You | "Everyone's just mooching off the entrepreneurial class. Shackling the *doers*." |
| You | "I think it's... all these *foreign people* taking our jobs." |
| You | "Exactly. I don't wanna talk about it." |
| Acele | "You sure?" |
| You | "Yes, I'm sure. Now, I had some questions for you." |
| You | "Actually...." |
| Acele | "Go ahead..." |
| Acele | "Wow. Social justice really matters that much to you? That's commendable. It really had you shaken up there... are you *sure* that's it, though?" |
| You | "I haven't seen much of this world, but from what I've seen *social justice* is an adolescent term. Sounds almost liberal... what's got me shaken up is the *people's struggle* and it's got me shaken up *bad*." |
| Acele | "Yeah, man, they're pretty bad," she says, without much conviction. |
| You | "It makes me sick, thinking about the thousands... millions... billions? How many people are there, actually?" |
| Acele | "Um..." |
| You | "How many people are there in the world?" |
| Kim Kitsuragi | "Three-point-six billion, not counting those on Seol." |
| You | "Really? That many?! Reduces me to tears thinking of the 3.6 billion and god knows how many more in that Seol place, crushed under the tyranny of the market." |
| Acele | "Yeah, that's pretty bad," she nods. "Are you sure you're not just hung up on some chick though?" |
| Acele | "So, the thing that's been eating you... is rich people not having enough money?" |
| You | "You can roll your eyes all you want, but will it bring us any closer to a knowledge-based economy? I haven't seen much of this strange world, but: Not with these taxes it won't!" |
| Acele | "Then you really haven't seen much of this *strange world*, because we literally haven't got any income taxes. Just a 20% value-added tax and that's, like... *it*." |
| You | "No way! You have no idea how many taxes there *really* are -- you've never paid any! There are all these disguised, invisible taxes. Look, there's one right now!" (Point at the sea.) |
| Acele | Startled, she turns her head and looks at the sea. No modes of indirect taxation catch her eye. She looks back at you. |
| Acele | "You have an issue with... the sea monster tax?" |
| You | "No. Not *just* the sea monster tax. It's all of it taken together that's strangling economic growth." |
| Acele | "Uh huh." She collects herself. "And none of this has anything to do with -- oh I don't know -- some chick?" |
| Acele | "Yeah, man," she nods. "That's why you were crying over a hat, yelling about regaining your authority. National pride." |
| You | "That's those foreign ideas messing with your head. You don't even realize you're *literally* on your knees right now! Our women -- literally on their knees!" |
| Acele | "Man, that's because my equipment's on the ground." |
| You | "I'm pretty sure I've got issues with our young women kneeling in the snow with this *cosmopolitan* racket going on in the background." (Nod towards the tent.) |
| Acele | "Or, or... I'm just gonna put this out there -- are you sure you're not having *chick* issues, with some chick?" |
| You | "I'm positive. Now, I had some questions for you before all this started." |
| Acele | "Oh, really?" |
| You | "The golem of capital runs rampant, smashing creator and slave alike. I fear the process is irreversible." |
| You | "Yeah, people just can't get off their asses -- zero hireable talent in this city. Zero. No wonder everyone's poor as potatoes." |
| You | "Yeah, I can tell this was once a proud nation. Now all this internationalist bullshit has brought Revachol to its knees." |
| Acele | "Oh, really?" |
| Acele | "Oh, really?" |

| Acele | "Wow, man." She raises her eyebrow. "That's pretty symbolic, don't you think?" |
| You | "To hell with this. Questions -- I had them. And you have answers." |
| Acele | "Okay, of course... What did you want to know?" |

| You | "Yes, I found that to be very symbolic too." |

| Acele | "Used to be sweet, now it's shit -- seems pretty symbolic to me. Anyway, what else? |
| Acele | "Okay, what else?" |
